The Indigenous Awareness Circle is working on several projects:
- “We see you – and we are listening” is a reminder to all UU’s that the call from many Native peoples is “we are still here“. In response, we are attempting to learn more about Indigenous traditions and culture.
- We support for the annual Odenong Powwow in Amherst
- We participate in the annual Pocumtuck Homelands Festival
- We support the land back effort for Lampson Brook in Belchertown, MA
- Support for the work of the Questioning Our Name helping circle convened by the Board to recognize the harms done by our forebearers and as part of this work we are supporting a series of educational events titled Finding Our Place in the Connecticut River Valley; Beginning to Heal 400 Years of Settler Colonialism
- Support for the UU Mass Action Indigenous Legislative Agenda
- Support for the Federal Truth and Healing Commission on Indian Boarding School Policies Act.
